Calva is a sport which is only played in Spain. The sport traces its origins to the pre-Roman times.
This was developed from a game played by shepherds who threw stones at bull’s horns for entertainment. The bull’s horn has been replaced by a peice of wood, which is called a calva. The wood is bend at an angle, somewhat shaped like a horn. The stone was also replaced with a cylinder of iron called the marro. The term calva comes from the field in which the game is played.
